Email Delivery Guide

Send donation receipts to donors via email with PDF attachments. Track delivery status and send in bulk after imports.

Ways to send receipts

One-click sending

From the Donations page, click the send icon next to any donation. The receipt is generated and emailed to the donor instantly.

Bulk email

After importing donations via CSV, use the "Send All Receipts" button to email receipts to all imported donors at once.

What donors receive

When you send a receipt, donors receive an email with:

Subject line with your organization name

Brief thank-you message in the email body

PDF receipt attached for their records

Your organization's contact information

Tracking delivery status

Each donation shows its receipt status on the Donations page:

Not sent— Receipt has not been generated or emailed
Sent— Receipt was generated and emailed successfully

Automatic receipts

When connected to Stripe or Salesforce, you can enable auto-receipts to automatically send receipts when new donations are received.

Troubleshooting delivery issues

Donor didn't receive the email?

Check that the email address is correct. Ask donors to check spam/junk folders. Emails are sent from thanks@thankly.org.

Need to resend a receipt?

Click the send icon again on any donation to resend the receipt. A new email will be sent with the PDF attached.
