General

What is Thankly?

Thankly is donation receipt software for nonprofits. It helps you generate IRS-compliant donation receipts, send them to donors via email, and track delivery. You can import donations via CSV or connect Salesforce and Stripe for automatic syncing.

Who is Thankly for?

Thankly is designed for 501(c)(3) nonprofits of all sizes. Whether you're a small organization managing donations in spreadsheets or a larger nonprofit using Salesforce, Thankly can automate your donation receipts.

Are Thankly receipts IRS-compliant?

Yes. Thankly receipts include all IRS-required elements for tax-deductible donations: organization name and EIN, donor information, donation amount and date, statement about goods/services provided, and appropriate disclosure language.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Thankly uses industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest. We never share your data with third parties. Integration connections (Stripe, Salesforce) use OAuth for secure, read-only access.

Receipts

What information appears on donation receipts?

Receipts include: your organization name and EIN, donor name and address, donation amount and date, a statement about whether goods/services were provided, IRS tax attestation language, and your custom thank-you message.

Can I customize the receipt design?

Yes. You can choose from 6 professional templates, upload your logo, select an accent color, and write a custom thank-you message. All templates include the same IRS-required information.

How do I resend a receipt?

Go to the Donations page, find the donation, and click the send icon. A new email will be sent to the donor with the PDF receipt attached. There's no limit on resending receipts.

Can I download receipts as PDFs?

Yes. Click the download icon on any donation to generate and download a PDF receipt. You can use this for manual delivery or your records.

Integrations

What platforms does Thankly integrate with?

Thankly integrates with Salesforce (including NPSP) and Stripe. For Stripe, this includes any donation platform using Stripe for payments: Donorbox, Givebutter, Classy, Fundraise Up, Give Lively, and more.

Does Thankly modify my Salesforce or Stripe data?

No. Thankly only has read-only access to your connected accounts. We can view donation/charge data but cannot create, modify, or delete anything in Salesforce or Stripe.

Can I disconnect an integration?

Yes. Go to Integrations and click Disconnect on any connected service. Previously synced donations remain in Thankly, but no new data will sync.

What if my integration connection expires?

OAuth tokens can expire over time. If this happens, go to Integrations and click Reconnect to re-authorize access. Your existing synced data is not affected.

Billing

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Community plan is free and includes 50 receipts per month. This is great for small nonprofits or to try Thankly before upgrading.

What happens if I exceed my receipt limit?

You'll see a warning when approaching your limit. Once reached, you can still view and manage donations, but new receipt sending is paused until you upgrade or your limit resets next month.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to Billing and click Upgrade Plan. Select your new plan and enter payment information. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You can cancel anytime from the Billing page. Your subscription continues until the end of the billing period, then you'll move to the free Community plan. All your data is preserved.
